Representations

In this post I will be highlighting which representations I will include in my music video. I am doing this in order to develop the detail of the planning so it will be easier on the day of filming to execute these representations effectively.

Class- the lower/working class

  • I will represent this class group via the use of the Black and White shots which feature Alice's everyday life, I will represent this group via the use of costume as the main character will be wearing a plain hoodie and t shirt in this scene and via the use of props such as alcohol to signify the unsettled lifestyle that they live. I have chosen to represent this group in order to create juxtaposition between this mundane way of life and the abstract escapism scenes that are used.

Gender- females

  • This group will be represented in my product via the use of a female character as the lead role in the music video. I choose to represent this group as I personally will be able to identify with it betters as I to am a female and I wanted to get across a vulnerability within the main character as they are being oppressed within the home, which will be easier to convict with a female character.

Age- teenagers

  • I will represent this group in my music video via the use of a teenaged character and I will be also focusing on issues within society that are stereotypically associated with teenagers such as drug and alcohol abuse and suicide. I choose to represent this group as I wanted to portray the difficulties that this age group can face via the narrative in my music video, they are also an interesting group to use due to the turbulent lives that teenagers stereotypically live.
